The Last Post

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

I had hoped to continue with my Friday Sermons by resorting to copy-and-paste jobs from my past writings. But I have now realized that this too is not possible. Because of my old age & some technical difficulties!

That is why this last post!

Yes, I am unhappy. Not just because of my personal difficulties, but because of this almost complete lawlessness of the modern world, including most of the so-called Islamic nations!!

Justice for all, Truthfulness and No Corruption ought to be the uncompromising guiding principles of all the countries for the sake of a lasting peace here! Every country gives its lip assertion to these principles, but very few practise them!

That is so because humanity, in general, has no belief in God (Allah)! Absolute belief in God is the most essential requirement for the cultivation of the principles mentioned above.

Belief in God entails:

1. He, by Himself, created the entire Universe and everything therein including mankind. HE has had no partners in His creations.

2. HE has absolute control over all His creations that includes mankind!

3. HE knows everything of the past and of the future of every living being including humans.

4. HE has created human beings on this earth to test them for an everlasting life of pure joy in the Hereafter.

5. Only those shall pass the test who try and tread the Straight Path indicated in the Qur'aan.

6. A person treating the Straight Path believes in God, recognizes that his/her actions here are minutely being monitored by Him. He/she must be honest, truthful and scrupulously avoid greed, oppression, and injustice to anyone. He/she always seeks divine help in whatever good he/she tries to do in this world.

7. Such a person only gets the passport to Paradise. Others go to Hell to suffer there forever.

As I perceive it, in this present world, there are very few eligible for Paradise! The bulk of us goes to Hell!!

That is what makes me horrified!

God take mercy on us,

Mohammad Shafi

O Muslims -66

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

The extract below is from QUR’AANIC STUDIES – A Modern Tafsir PART II:

12. Ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo ijtaniboo katheeran mina alththanni inna baAAda alththanni ithmun wala tajassasoo wala yaghtab baAAdukum baAAdan ayuhibbu ahadukum an ya/kula lahma akheehi maytan fakarihtumoohu waittaqoo Allaha inna Allaha tawwabun raheemun

49:12. O you who believe! Avoid most of the speculations! Speculation in some cases indeed is sin. And spy not on one another, nor let some of you backbite on others. Would any of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You should abhor it! And fear Allah! Allah is indeed Acceptor of repentance, Merciful.

These are lessons in etiquette in continuation of the preceding Verse 49:11!

O Muslims - 65

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

The extract below is from QUR’AANIC STUDIES – A Modern Tafsir PART II. It is one of a series of divine guidelines for mankind on how to lead their earthly life. We prosper if we follow those guidelines. We suffer if we don’t!

Islamic Life

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

(For the purpose of this article, a man stands for a woman as well.)

A man leading an Islamic life would have, first and foremost, an unflinching belief in Allah. By Allah, I mean the Power, without a beginning or an end, that has created the Universe and everything therein. Allah has absolute control over everything He has created.

Allah has given a code of conduct, in the form of the Qur'aan, for man to lead his worldly life. HE has given man the intelligence to recognize Him without seeing Him. HE has also given him the freedom not to abide by the Qur'aan, but with the warning that a breach of the Code could land him into Hell! And abiding by the Code could fetch him the reward of Paradise. Hell is the place of everlasting suffering, while Paradise, the place for everlasting joy! Both Hell and Paradise are placed in the Hereafter. There is life after man's worldly death. That life is the Hereafter!

The man leading an Islamic life would therefore be ever vigilant that he abides by the Code. He would commit no offence against anyone, lest Allah should punish him here or in the Hereafter. He would necessarily be just and fair in all his dealings with others. He would never cheat anybody but help anyone to the best of his ability.

If most men were to abide by the Code, there would be a virtual Paradise on earth!

I had started this article with the assertion that a man stands for a woman as well. Man and woman are two aspects of the same personality.  One is made for the other. They are the two wheels of the cart of mankind. The cart would come to a grinding halt without any one of the two wheels functioning. Both must be equal in stature. The Qur'aan gives rights for either one, over the other. Allah won't forgive a man who ill-treats his wife. An Islamic couple would necessarily be happy with each other. In Islam, sexual enjoyment is restricted to the bounds of marriage. To prevent its proliferation outside these bounds, both men and women are required not to be provocative in their dress and demeanour in public. There is otherwise no restriction on either man or woman acquiring any useful knowledge or doing any honourable public service.

Hypocrites

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

I was reading Verse 9:74, wherein hypocrites' declaration of belief in Allah and His Messenger was exposed to be false! The hypocrites meant were those living then, that is at the time when the Qur'aan was being revealed.

But it occurred to me, to my dismay, that we, modern-day Muslims, could be such hypocrites as well!

We declare we are believers of the Qur'aan! Really? Why do we then act contrary to some of the Qur'aanic edicts?

In Verse 17:110, Muslims are instructed not to be too low in their voice during their prayers. But we disregard this clear instruction and say our ظهر and عصر prayers inaudibly! Why?

In Verse 62:9, we are asked to abandon all our mundane business and rush towards ذكر الله immediately on hearing the Call for Friday prayer. What do we do? We are in no hurry to leave our business! We delay our going to the Masajid till it is time to start the ritual prayer. "The Imam's sermon isn't worth hearing," we think. And the females think the divine directive is for men, and not for women! So, they remain busy preparing meals for their men returning from their prayers!!

Verse 2:187 directs us to fast إلى اليل till night. But we break our fast at sunset! Sunset is not night. The atmosphere is still pervaded with daylight then. The Qur'aan itself calls dawn and dusk to be the 2 ends of the day طرفي انهار and not ends of the night (refer Verse 11:114). Night comes when all remnants of daylight vanish from the atmosphere. Just as fast starts, not at Sunrise, but at the start of dawn, it ends, not at sunset, but at the end of dusk! But we do not bother, we follow what our forefathers have been doing.

The elite amongst us - some of them, not all, I grant - would rather have a pleasure trip around the world, than perform a Hajj! On the other hand, there are some who would perform a Hajj or an Umrah every year but would not spend on ameliorating some of the poverty around them!

Some of us - the younger generation particularly - usually enjoy a late-night show or remain busy with our mobile. Then it becomes difficult for them to get up for the prescribed dawn prayer. And, gradually, it becomes a habit! One day, they say a final bye to the dawn prayer, and then, to all prayers!

Qur'aan instructs us to be truthful always, and to stand firmly for justice even at our own cost! We casually go against this instruction in the interest of our worldly gains. And we assume, we have not done anything wrong!

Qur'aan repeatedly asserts that it explains in detail all things necessary for leading a good, virtuous life. But even our well-established Islamic scholars say that الربا(Ar-Riba) is not defined! In other words, they do not believe in the Qur'aan!

I can go on and on recounting our perfidies, but I am tired. I must stop here!  The undeniable fact, however, is that the modern-day Muslim is, generally speaking, a منافق, a hypocrite!

May Allah have mercy on us!

Amen,

Mohammad Shafi

Adam & Jesus

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

Verse 3:59 tells us that, with Allah Almighty, Jesus was like Adam. They were alike in one respect; they were both born asexually. Both did not have a human father.

That is the plain interpretation of that Verse. But Allah had put a numerical code in the Qur'aan, perhaps completely unknown to the Arabs to whom the Qur'aan was revealed, to prove that the Holy Book was divine, and not man-made!

Adam occurs 25 times in the entire Qur'aan. Jesus (Aaeesa) also occurs 25 times therein!

Not only that!

Before Verse 3:59, Adam occurs 6 times in the Qur’aan, and so does Jesus occur 6 times! And after Verse 3:59, Adam occurs 18 times, and so does Jesus!!

I have verified this myself.

Besides Verse 3:59, in which both Adam and Jesus are mentioned, Adam is mentioned in Verses 2:31, 2:33, 2:34, 2:35, 2:37, 3:33, 5:27, 7:11, 7:19, 7:26, 7:27, 7:31, 7:35, 7:172, 17:61, 17:70, 18:50, 19:58, 20:115, 20:116, 20:117, 20:120, 20:121, & 36:60. Whereas, Jesus is mentioned in 2:87, 2:136, 2:253, 3:45, 3:52, 3:55, 3:84, 4:157, 4:163, 4:171, 5:46, 5:78, 5:110, 5:112, 5:114, 5:116, 6:85, 19:34, 33:7, 42:13, 43:63, 57:27, 61:6, & 61:14.

Imagine, this was done when there was no computer! There was not even paper then to write on! And the Qur'aan was revealed, in portions, during a long spell of 23 years!!! Could any man have inserted this utterly astonishing code? Surely, a human mind can even then deny divine authorship of the Qur'aan only under Satanic influence!

Sharia

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

The word شريعة (Sharia) is bandied around, all over the world, even without knowing what it really means. Non-Muslims consider it to be a sinister, medieval code of harsh laws. Muslims themselves are responsible for this perception! Some of the Muslim countries have made it obligatory for men to have long beards and for women to have a complete head to feet covering in public, and such other archaic laws, as part of شريعة. Such archaic laws are not part of the Qur’aanic شريعة. The شريعة as understood by those Muslim countries is based, on man-written books, published long after the death of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

In the Qur'aan, this word is mentioned in Verse 45:18 whereby Prophet Muhammad was informed that he himself was created with the divine code of conduct inherent in him. This code of conduct, inherent in the Prophet, is the Message of the Qur'aan! So, شريعة must be explored within the Qur'aan itself! Seeking its meaning outside the Qur'aan has led the Muslims astray.

What then is the Code of Conduct (شريعة) laid down in the Qur’aan?

Summarised, for the sake of this short article, the essentials of this Code are as under:

1. Belief in Allah.

2. Belief in the Qur'aan being  a Message from Allah.

3. Belief in the Hereafter.

4. Standing firmly for justice and truth.

I would elaborate on the essentials above as under:

The Universe and everything therein are so intricately and intelligently interlinked that the concept of their coming into being of their own accord, is just nonsense, even from the scientific point of view! From the same point of view, it would be nonsense to say that their creators are more than one.

The Unitary Power that created everything is called Allah in Islam. The Power could be called by any other appropriate name.

Allah has sent mankind to this earth for testing their eligibility for an everlastingly happy life in the Hereafter. There is another life after death, which is the Hereafter. Only those will be eligible to be happy there who have led شريعة lives here, at least during the last phase before death. The others go to Hell there!

The dos and the don'ts in the Qur’aan constitute the شريعة. The dos are all good things like truthfulness, honesty, kindness, sympathy, and ways and means to cultivate these. And the don'ts are all bad things like theft, treachery, oppression, dishonesty, falsehood, and ways and means employed for their perpetration.

People are urged to boldly stand for justice and truth even when it goes against their own selves or their near and dear ones.

Much ado is raised about the punishment of cutting a hand for theft (Verse 5:38). In the very next Verse (5:39), the perpetrator of the crime is pardoned if he/she repents and makes amends. The provision of a harsh punishment serves only as a deterrent. Only a repeater of the crime may suffer the harsh punishment. Even then it must be remembered that this punishment can be awarded only by a State governed strictly under Qur'aanic شريعة. In such a state, the judge would be an Allah-fearing person, who would not award the harsh punishment unless he is sure, without a shadow of a doubt, that the person concerned has indeed committed the crime. So, this is a case of much ado about nothing!

Question is also raised as to why a daughter inherits only half the share of a son, under the شريعة. Those who raise this question do not know that in Islam, the responsibility of bearing the family expenses is on a male member and not on a female. Moreover, a wife gets shares in inheritance both from her parents' side and from the husband's side. A husband gets inheritance only from his parents' side. And there are other aspects to this issue that are beyond the scope of this short article.

In Islam, sexual enjoyment is restricted within the bounds of marriage. Taking this outside these bounds generate many evils that would be bad for a good human society. The Qur'aanic شريعة has therefore put certain behavioural and dressing norms to avoid sexual provocation in public. But these norms do not prevent females from acquiring education or doing any normal Societal work in public as wrongly professed in some quarters.

The Qur'aanic شريعة, in short, is designed to generate a free and secure society for all mankind - even for those who do not believe in Allah, in the Qur'aan, and in the Hereafter. They will be dealt with by Allah Himself in the Hereafter. No earthly authority has any power to punish them for that unless they indulge in some crime against their fellow human beings.

It is not very important to have a high position in the life of this world. What is important is to qualify here for a place in Paradise. There is no harm in trying to get some important and fair position on this earth, but that should be done by fair means, not foul.

Giving Credit

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

One of the things prohibited under Qur'aanic Verse 2:173 is وما اهل بهى لغيرالله (that for which credit is attributed to anything or anyone other than Allah).

Based on its context of animals being killed for food, it is generally interpreted to mean the meat derived from an animal killed in the Name of anyone other than Allah. Sacrifices are indeed made at the altars of other deities. Meat derived from such sacrifices is of course prohibited.

But the phrase quoted above from Verse 2:173 has a much wider meaning. It is not restricted to food derived from animals only. It connotes anything, material or even non-material, the credit for the being or emergence of which is attributed to anything or anyone other than Allah!

Some Muslims, in the Indian subcontinent especially, visit tombs of dead saints and pray there for some worldly benefits to them. And if they do get any of those worldly benefits thereafter, it is attributed to the saints whose tombs they had visited and prayed at! The quoted phrase alludes to such attribution too!

Persons who visit such tombs bring back home some تبرک (eatables supposedly blessed by those dead saints) for their relatives and neighbours. Such تبرک too is covered by the said Qur'aanic phrase!

Muslims and non-Muslims alike, do give credit, for some public good done, to a person or a group of persons. But that person or that group cannot by itself accomplish any good work without divine assistance. That is why Muslims are wont to say ما شاء اللہ (with the Will of Allah) whenever they mention such public good done. Giving credit for any good work done to anybody, without associating therewith the essential divine assistance, does also come under the purview of the Qur'aanic phrase we are discussing here.

It should be the duty of every Muslim to understand the correct meaning of this phrase and of every other edict of the Qur'aan!

Condition of Muslims

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

For about 9 centuries, from the 7th century AD, Muslims, as a community, had been in a good position, politically or even otherwise, on a large part of this world. But gradually, the community lost its Muslim character, and, consequently, lost its good position too. The Muslims are still in ruling positions in some countries, but they carry no weight, internationally.

The Qur'aanic Verse 13:11 tells us that Allah does not change a community's condition until it changes its own character (ان الله لا يغيرو ما بقوم حتى يغيرو ما بانفسهم ٠٠٠). The Muslims themselves are responsible for their continually worsening condition. Most of today's Muslims do really have no faith in Allah. Their minds entertain doubts even about the existence of Allah. And they doubt the divine authorship of the Qur'aan! That is why they do not try to follow the Qur’aan, in letter, and in spirit.

ہمیں شک ہے کہ شک ہی میں غرق ہو جاینگے ہم

جانتے بوجھتے، دیکھتے ہی دیکھتے، ﷲ کی مار کھاینگے ہم۔

(We are in doubt that in doubt itself we're going to drown

Knowingly, imminently, we're going to suffer Allah's frown)

In the very same Verse quoted above, the Qur'aan informs us that when Allah wills calamity on any community, none, other than He Himself, can avert it.

May Allah have mercy on us!

Friday Prayer

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

The Qur'aanic Verse 62:9 (و اذا ندى للصلاة من يوم الجمعة ٠٠٠) stipulates that when the call for the Friday prayer is given, the believers should abandon worldly business and hasten towards meditation on Allah. And the next Verse tells them that this restriction ends at the completion of the Friday prayer. So, the duration of the restriction is only about an hour! Such restriction, on the other hand, was extended to an entire day - Sabbath - for the Jews. We, Muslims, ought to be thankful to Allah Almighty for this concession!

But what do we do? We try our best to get over this little restriction even, in dubious ways. Some of us say that the أذان (call for prayer) with which the restriction starts is not the first, but the second one given just before the ritual congregational prayer starts. The ritual prayer lasts for less than 10 minutes. So, the duration of the restriction would be 10 minutes at the most!

This is just nonsense! The 2nd اذان is given when the people are already engaged in ذكر الله at the places of prayer! They are not engaged in their worldly affairs then. It is the first اذان that the Verses mentioned above refer to. At the first اذان most people are indeed engaged in their worldly affairs. The اذان serves as a notice to them to abandon those affairs and prepare themselves for ذكر الله.

This divine restriction is for all believers, both male, and female. But the females, particularly those in the Indian subcontinent, consider themselves exempted. They remain engaged in their household activities during this restricted time!

When Muslims are so openly unmindful about divine instructions to them, why would Allah Almighty care for them? They have consequently become the favourite whipping boys for any Tom, Dick, or Harry of this world, today!

Zul Qarnain

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

Qur'aanic Verses 18:83 to 18:99 provide some information about this prehistoric personality.

Scholars identify him variously as Alexander the Great, Cyrus the Great, or Darius the Great. Some even identify him as Prophet Muhammad himself (peace on him)! But it is all speculation. Only Allah Almighty knows who he was. So, let us restrict ourselves to just what the Qur'aan says about him.

Allah Almighty had established him with a good position in this world. And he had the means to undertake expeditions, at Allah's behest, in various directions from his seat of power.

In the first expedition described in the Qur'aan, he went westwards. He found a people living near a huge pond of muddy water extending right up to the horizon in the west. The people were apparently a mixed lot of good and wicked persons. Zul Qarnain had the full authority and power to deal with them as he pleased. But he exercised his power in a just manner. The wicked were punished and the good were well treated.

And his just use of power is the important point that the Qur'aan highlights here about Zul Qarnain. His identification with any historical figure was not important. He was more just than most rulers in today's world!

Zul Qarnain's 2nd expedition that the Qur'aan records was to the East. Here he comes across a community that lived in the open. This community could not have been of human beings, as Allah has given them enough creative power to build for themselves some sort of shelter against heat and rain. The community could therefore be of wild animals. Zul Qarnain could do nothing about it. Here Allah showed him his limitations as a human being!

In the 3rd recorded expedition, Zul Qarnain came across a people harassed by unduly mobs coming across a pass between 2 mountains. Zul Qarnain had the resources to close the pass with iron gates plastered with molten brass. The gates effectively prevented the unruly mobs from coming across. It was thus seen that Zul Qarnain was not only just, but was extremely helpful, to people he came across during his expeditions!

A Chinese traveller during the 7th century AD records in his travelogue the existence of those iron gates far away in the North from the Arabian Peninsula (source: Wikipedia). There was, therefore, hardly any chance of any Arab personally knowing about those gates, at the time the Qur'aan was revealed. Mention of those gates in the Qur'aan does certainly show that the knowledge displayed in it could have come only from Allah!

The Qur'aan further states that, in due course, the gates would be demolished. And, sure enough, the gates are no longer there! This also points to the divine nature of the Qur'aan.

At the end of the Qur'aanic narration of the story of Zul Qarnain, the Holy Book truly predicts the intermingling of the various communities of this world, as a prelude to their being gathered for Judgement Day!

O Muslims! Do you still entertain doubts about the divine origin of the Qur'aan!? And, if you don't, why don't you follow the Qur'aan, in letter, and in spirit!?

Means of Approach

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

The Qur'aanic Verse 5:35 urges believers to seek الوسيلة (means of approach) to Allah to get success.

The Arabic word الوسيلة has been grossly misunderstood by many Muslims of today. They think that in the light of this Verse, they can invoke the good offices of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and other dead pious men, for conferring of worldly benefits to them and for redressal of their worldly woes. The attention of such Muslims is invited to Verses 17:56 and 17:57 wherein the futility of invoking anyone, other than Allah, is clarified. And in Verse 35:22, the Qur'aan categorically tells mankind, "And you are in no position to make those to hear who are in the graves." The 'means of approach' to Allah are the means which were employed by those great men themselves. They had persistently struggled in Allah's Path as indicated at the end of this Verse (5:35) itself. 'Struggling in Allah's Path' is therefore the means. And 'struggling in Allah's Path' does not mean suicide attacks on soft targets as some may mistakenly believe! It means, on the other hand, to "believe, and do righteous deeds, and admonish with the Truth and admonish with Patience", as enunciated in Surah 103. And 'righteous deeds' are deeds that Allah Almighty commands mankind to do, through His Message, the Qur'aan.

Indivisible

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

The Qur'aan says in Verse 6:159, 'Those indeed who have broken the unity of their Faith, and have become sects, you have nothing to do with them ...'.

From the above, the divine dislike of dividing Islam into sects is obvious! But what is noteworthy is the arithmetical or numerical code used here to give expression to the divine concept of the indivisibility of Islam.

The believers are addressed as يا أيها الذين آمنوا (O you who believe) throughout the Qur'aan for being given necessary instructions on leading a proper life on this earth. And they are so addressed, in all, 89 times therein. 89 is an indivisible prime number!

So, you see, the divine concept of the indivisible Islam is codified here by addressing the believers for a prime number of times - a feat that could only be divine, and not man-made - in the circumstances in which the Qur'aan was revealed, nearly 1500 years ago!

And the Qur'aan is replete with such numerical codes leaving no scope for any doubts about its divinity!!

In Pairs

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

سبحان الذي خلق الأزواج كلها مما تنبت الأرض ومن انفسهم و مما لا يعلمون

Glory to Him Who created pairs of all things – pairs of what the earth grows, pairs of their own kind, and pairs of what they know not!

Above is one of the divine Verses in Arabic, and its translation in English, from the Qur'aanic Chapter Ya-Sin.

It speaks of Glorious Allah creating all things in pairs. But there is an arithmetical code, wonderfully latent, in this Verse too!

The number of the Verse is 36, and the Chapter number in which it is placed is also 36!

So, Chapter number 36 is paired with Verse number 36 therein, to express the creation of all things in pairs!!

To the best of my knowledge and belief, the Qur'aanic Verses were not numbered when first revealed. The numbers were given them, in the order they were found placed, much later.

And also, to the best of my knowledge and belief, this arithmetical code here had not come to conscious notice, ever before!!

Such arithmetical codes in the Qur'aan are a legion. These are there everywhere therein. And these are placed for no other reason than to provide overwhelming evidence of the Qur'aan being divine. No human being could have ever done it even if the entire mankind had lent its support!

Would the skeptic still be adamant not to believe that this Qur'aan - first published long before all our modern amenities were ever available - could only have been divine, and not man-made?

Attalaaq

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

The title above is the Arabic word الطلاق in Roman script. I came across this word while going through the Verses of the Qur'aan on divorce.

The Qur'aanic phrase containing the said word, that came to my notice first, was الطلاق مرتان meaning الطلاق is twice (Verse 2:229). I have discussed the Qur'aanic meaning of الطلاق elsewhere (refer the blog post
What Is Attalaaq)

What I want to draw attention to, here, are the wonderful, superhuman arithmetical codes that the Qur'aan is replete with. The plain meaning of the aforesaid Arabic phrase is of course that الطلاق can be resorted to only twice by a married couple during the duration of their marriage.

But I was pleasantly astonished to find out that an arithmetical code is hidden in the said Arabic phrase too!

The code is that the word الطلاق has occurred only TWICE throughout the entire Qur'aan!!

And this is not the only instance of the use of secret arithmetical codes. There are instances galore throughout the Qur'aan!

And remember that the Qur'aan was revealed not all at once but in parts, during the long course of 23 years in the 7th century AD, when none of the modern amenities was available. Not even paper!

Would you still, then, not believe that the Qur'aan is divine and not man-made!?

FRIDAY SERMONS: Abusive Attitude

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH, THE GRACIOUS THE MERCIFUL

The Qur'aan repeatedly asserts that it is well explained within itself. And,  yet, most Muslims - almost all of their religious leaders included - believe that the Qur'aanic term الربا is not defined therein.

But when I questioned their thus openly contradicting the Qur'aan (refer What Is Ar-Riba ), l received an abusive response! The response was not a reasoned one, but just abusive. I was told, "Shame on you
You jahil retard.
How many days are left behind for your life?
When you will repent you you want to die with your sinful and corrupt fake ideology?"

Such abusive language is unbecoming of a Muslim. The Qur'aan directs us to be kind even while arguing with others (Verse 29:46).

I request all my Muslim brothers and sisters never to use such abusive language. It gives Islam a falsely bad name.

Principles of Economics

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

In Islam, these principles are encapsulated withìn a part of the Qur'aanic Verse 2:275, which is و احل الله البيع و حرم الربا (and Allah has permitted business, and prohibited Ar-Riba).

A business is an activity to facilitate convenient availability of a variety of needful things to people.

The neighborhood shopkeeper arranges for and provides to me things conveniently for my day-to-day use. For this service, he is charging some extra money over and above the cost of the things to him. He is engaged in business permitted in the Qur'aan.

My neighborhood electrician comes and fixes the lighting problems at my house. He is charging me something extra over and above the things used by him for the purpose. He too is engaged in business permitted in the Qur'aan.

My neighborhood bank keeps my money in its safe custody and allows time-to-time withdrawal therefrom for my personal use. It also provides loans to me for my necessary expenses which I am unable to meet within my savings. For this service, the bank charges me interest which includes the bank's overhead expenses plus a reasonable profit margin for itself. This bank is also engaged in business permitted in the Qur'aan.

But, as noted elsewhere in the same Verse 2:275 (قالو انما البيع مثل الربا), some people, under Satanic spell, insist that such bank business is like Ar-Riba!!

Interest on Money Lent

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

Almost every Muslim religious leader asserts that interest on money lent is حرام (prohibited) in Islam as الربا (Ar-Riba), in terms of Verse 2:275 of the Qur'aan. They equate Ar-Riba to interest.

But I have found nothing in the Qur'aan to support this equation! The leaders say that the term is not defined in the Holy Book.

How could they say so when the divine Book repeatedly reiterates that it is well explained within itself (Verses 17:12, 16:89, 6:55, 41:3, 11:1, 17:89, ...)? Are they not thus betraying their lack of faith in the Qur'aan being divine?

For further details on this, please refer to the web page What Is Ar-Riba!

Islam - Grossly Misunderstood & Misrepresented

In the Name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful

In a recent TV serial, a person is shown unjustly indulging in subversion in a secretive manner. And he is shown, in the seclusion of his residence, as praying the Muslim Namaz/Salat!

A true Muslim would fight injustice but never indulge in unjust subversion. The TV serial was misrepresenting Islam.

In visual media, Muslims are shown as praying at the tombs of dead saints. As if they are seeking the saints' intercession in their prayers to Allah!

But Islam is strictly against seeking such intercession. It calls it 'shirk', an unpardonable sin!

The media is thus grossly misunderstanding & misrepresenting true Islam!

What is true Islam then?

It is simply an unshakable belief in the existence of One Creator of the entire Universe and of everything therein! Muslims call Him - the One Creator - Allah. HE has created mankind on this earth for testing its every individual for his/her eligibility to a higher, permanent life where there would be no loss, no suffering, no death. The test is whether the individual recognizes Allah without factually seeing Him.

Allah has adequately pre-conditioned mankind for this test. HE has ingrained the subconscious of every individual with a natural acceptance of His existence.

Besides, HE has provided evidence of His existence in everything, in and around the individual. The individual can decipher the evidence by pondering over it a little.

HE has, moreover, sent His human Messengers to every nation around the world with divine Scriptures for mankind's guidance. The last of such guidance came nearly 1500 hundred years ago in the form of the Qur'aan.

No further such guidance is needed since all provisions are now in place for the preservation of the last scripture till end of this earthly world.

Every individual must abide by that divine Scripture and abstain from all evil to be eligible for a permanently secure and happy life in the Hereafter.

Islam is the way to that life!
