In the Name of Allah, the
Gracious, the Merciful
Excerpt from Chapter 2 of QUR’AANIC STUDIES – A Modern Tafsir, that
mirrors the common attitude, in general terms, of a modern-day Muslim and
orthodox adherents amongst Christians & Jews:
80. Waqaloo lan tamassana
alnnaru illa ayyaman maAAdoodatan qul attakhathtum
AAinda Allahi AAahdan falan yukhlifa Allahu AAahdahu am
taqooloona AAala Allahi ma la taAAlamoona
80. And they
say, "The Fire shall not touch us, but for a few days." Say,
"Have you taken from Allah a pledge, which He would not breach? Or is it
that you say of Allah what you know not?!"106
106. It may be remembered that this is a
continuation of a narrative about the Jews. And it was the Jews who were the
original authors of the arrogant statement that the Fire would not touch them,
but for a few days if at all! But now, the Jews are not alone in this
arrogance! The Christians are sure that, whatever be their sins, their belief
in the divinity of Jesus (peace be upon him) will fetch them the passport to
Paradise. And the Muslims! Well, most of them are sure that, whatever be their
sins, Muhammad (peace be upon him) will intercede on their behalf to get them
into Paradise.
A place in Paradise has to be earned individually by passing successfully
through the divinely ordained tests in this worldly life, and then through
divine Grace alone! The Qur’aan cites no provision for punishment of a limited
nature in the Hereafter.

Today's Jum'ah, I was sorry to note the following irregularities:-
ReplyDeleteSome begging inside the masjid, Nobody giving salams to one another, Some wearing tight trousers bottom folded, Some prayed greetings to mosque and some did not, After Adhan 95% prayed prior sunnah ofJum'ah some 2, some4, some 6 rakats, Mahshar was done by muazzin when there is no such thing, Some fell asleep and some listened to Kutbah, 50% not covering heads, After iqamah some creapt into lines when no sufficient room, 99% raised hands and said Ameen jointly when Katheeb said dua, some prayed 2, some 4, some did not pray sunnah after Jum'ah prayer, So sad, they are going bad to worse!
When I see sky, constellations, stars, moons, meteorites, shooting stars and study NASA captured pictures of space, I find only our this little tiney earth has greenery, colors, and creatures; all other are rocks, fire, wind, cold, and without any living condition like we have on earth. We do not find building blocks of life anywhere in Universe and in far galaxies. Yet, instead of appreciating this planet making it beautiful, by teaching Muslims and others science, knowledge, freedom for exploring, we bring every second something from Hadith and quran, putting chains in our feet. Muslim Women are kept under family surveillance depressing their adventurous spirits.
ReplyDeleteI wish we Muslim emphasize more on science and value of hard work rather than emphasizing Dua and have shortcut to prosperity.
